AboutDGP Contracting was formed in 2007 as secondary company to Concrete Works. At the time Concrete Works was our main business which was setup to construct and build foundations for both residential and commercial building and from time to time we did a reasonable amount of civil work. Concrete works had a high skilled team and quite quickly earned a reputation for completing some pretty challenging foundations built in the step hills of Wellington. Due to the nature of the work we brought our own excavator so as to keep control of the site. Collectively it proved to be a great business model and we completed many jobs very successfully. Personally I have always had a great interest in earthworks dating back to cleaning drains on the farm as a kid. I took great pride in getting diggers to the top of some ridiculously step sites and cutting out a new house platform then managing the complex methodology to construct the floor including rock anchors etc. that go along with a job like that. For this reason we formed DGP Contracting to move things in that direction. I never really got away from construction though everybody knew what I did and I still enjoyed it. All someone had to say was “No one will look at this job for me” and that was it. I knew these guys and did not want to let them down so I was in for better or often worse. Coming back home to Taranaki had been brewing for couple of years with 2 young boys growing up in a big city when I grew up in the hills of the King Country it brushed my fur backwards. We have settled in Norfolk and the kids go to Norfolk school and for the first time in many years we truly feel happy. With time we will get to know many of you and business will continue to grow. We have a small team of great guys and as demand for tanks and bridges grows I look forward to being able to employ a few more locals to meet the demand. Fortunately Tanks are far simpler to build than some of our previous work so I expect with highly skilled team who are suitably rewarded we will meet the demand. | ![]() |
